Halloween Tips
Many of us know the basic things we need to know, in order to make Halloween a safe experience. However, there are some things you may not think of, which potentially could put your child, or even yourself, in danger.
Stay on the sidewalks – even in developments. Dark costumes cannot always be seen by an oncoming car – even though the car’s headlights are on. Halloween is unfortunately known as having the highest amount of pedestrian accidents for this very reason. Have your child carry a flashlight, or even wear a glow stick necklace, so they can easily be seen.
If you are handing candy to trick-or-treaters, check your front lawn for rocks, sticks, or any type of obstacle they could trip on.
Never allow your children, or their friends, to eat any candy that is unwrapped – or if the wrapper is torn. If you are given fruit always throw it away, even if you don’t find anything wrong with it.
Remind trick-or-treaters, especially older ones that are traveling with their friends, to never enter a stranger’s home.
