Should you purchase or rent your next home?
Throughout Yardley and its surrounding picturesque towns, there are many homes and condos available for sale as well as rent. A common decision however for many is – should I purchase a home or rent?
Today’s economy plays a large role in that decision. As a homeowner, you must factor in a down payment, closing costs, and even repair costs if the home is in need of any minor or major repairs. When you purchase a foreclosure especially, home repair costs can play a major role in the purchasing decision of the home – as in most cases there are many home repairs that must be performed after purchasing the home – before it may become habitable.
Of course, a plus to purchasing a home is simply the privilege of owning a home in which to live. When you own, you have complete control over decorating, painting, carpeting, landscaping – the list is endless!
Renting can be a great option if you do not want the hassle of home maintenance. In most cases (not all), renters enjoy hassle-free living, where a maintenance crew performs all repairs on appliances, and a landscaping company will handle all aspects of mowing the grass, weeding, and landscaping. However, some rental properties will not allow you to have pets – and most will not allow you to paint, change your carpeting, or other home improvements.
